Timeless Piece

First worn in November of 2008 for a friend´s wedding in the Philippines, this stripe dress has been gracing my closet and several events since then. Can you remember this post when I used it as a skirt? It´s just one of those pieces I could not dispose. Love how it hugs my bod, timeless design and color, and a type of fabric that does not get old - this dress is everything.

A Whole New World in Brazil

Now living in one of the major cities in Sao Paulo called Campinas. Me and my hubby are finally together again after being away for 70 days. We are starting to build our home as we have decided to live independently from my in-law. A whole new world as it is for us - a lot of new people whom I barely know thus, only time can tell if we could call them friends. Happening at a time are new opportunities coming our way.

For our first photo shoot in this new city, we have chosen UNICAMP, a state university which Campinas is known for. Reminds me a lot of the University of the Philippines - huge campus! Lucky are those who can make it here in the university for tuition fee is totally free. Miscellaneous fees are even free in contrast with University of the Philippines´system.

Agora, vivendo em uma das principais cidades de São Paulo, chamada Campinas. Eu e meu marido estamos finalmente juntos de novo depois de ter ficar afastados durante 70 dias. Estamos começando a construir a nossa casa, já que decidimos viver de forma independente da minha sogra. Um mundo totalmente novo, como é para nós - um monte de gente nova que eu mal conheço, portanto, só o tempo poderá dizer se podemos chamá-los de amigos. No momento, surgem novas oportunidades que vêm em nossa direção.

Para o nosso primeiro ensaio fotográfico nessa nova cidade, nós escolhemos a UNICAMP, uma universidade estadual pela qual Campinas é muito conhecida. Lembra-me muito da Universidade das Filipinas - campus enorme! Têm muita sorte aqueles que podem estudar aqui na universidade, porque matricula é totalmente gratuita. Diversas outras taxas também são gratuitas, em contraste com a Universidade das Filipinas.

Summer White Dress

The freshest basic color you can have for summer is no other than white. It makes you feel the cleanest and the most conservative. I first use this dress for the 2009 New Year´s party at home. Originally haltered but recently had it altered to make it have that simple spaghetti strap. Call it shopping escape - when you feel like buying something new and then you have this piece in your closet that´s just hanging there, alteration or transformation of that piece will satisfy your shopping cravings. Inspired by Red by Valentino, featuring the "new" white dress.

The photo shoot took place in one of the eucalyptus plantation in our area. Some huge land owners opt to plant eucalyptus than coffee. Eucalyptus doesn´t need daily care unlike coffee. You plant today, 5 years later it will give you the money less of the day to day hassle of taking care of it. One of the best locations I had so far. Lovely place.

Transition: Winter to Spring

A month from now, it will be officially spring. We are in the state when transition occurs like a thick knit plus a jacket are no longer necessarry. Layering clothes is still comfortable though using the lighter ones. Baring legs less of the opaque tights, cardigan, and adding colors are the most stylish moves you can do to survive the transition.

Platform Heels

I never thought that a 4-inch heel will be as comfy as wearing wedges. Hurray! Whoever created the first platform heels, you are brilliant. Sexiness of heels and comfort of wedges rolled into one. With the hint of retro glam that can well work with 70s look, I picked this Dumond shoes.

Last night while reorganizing closet I stumbled into this stripe tube dress and came into an idea of using it as a skirt. Worn it under a black shirt with chiffon sleeves cinched with a belt somewhere between the waist and the hips creating a daytime wear.

Inconsistently Cold or Warm

August is inconsistently cold or warm in Brazil. One day it is sunny, following day gloomy, then rainy, freezing the next. This week, just from Monday to Thursday the pattern was like this. If you are a tourist planning to visit Southeast part of Brazil in August you better prepare all types of clothing. Winter in Brazil comes in spurts contributed by series of cold fronts from Argentina.

Today was chilly despite the raging heat from the sun. It is me and my tripod once again. This time outside the lake. In an almost all-black ensemble before sunset I took advantage taking photos on a street where cars seldom pass.

Indispensable Black Pumps

In a corporate dress code black pumps is an unobjectionable necessity. But hey, this is not only for corporate women. Black pumps is effing essential part of every girl´s closet. It is a versatile item that you can match with a dress, shorts, skirt or pants. One can walk in black pumps in either formal or casual outfit.  The question would lie on up to how high can you carry it. Personally, I opt to have black pumps in three inches with a slim heels. Apparently, it gives me the right height and I can still comfortably walk with it.

Contemporary Knit

Knit (tricot in portuguese) is one of the best type of clothes that can make you hot during winter. Fortunately, I live in South of Minas Gerais, home of quality knits in Brazil. There´s a lot of factory around the region where knitwear are manufactured for distribution both locally and abroad.  Got tons of knit in my closet which mostly were gifts from brazilian friends.

Wearing knit could be tricky. You don´t want to look like your grandma. Today´s ensemble is a mini-dress from F&H Philippines paired with two different forms of knitwear. The pink one that looks like heavy (but actually very light) and the other, a cardigan cinched on the waist with a belt. As shown, knitwear as a top made my mini-dress a mini-skirt. The solid blue color added vibrance to the ensemble. Black pantyhose could be an ultimate addition to the ensemble after sunset.
