Off to School

Come as you are. That´s the dress code of the school where I teach. So I would always dress down. No high heels, no make-up, at the most just pressed powder and lip balm, no pressure. I would even go in shorts and slippers during hotter season. Dress to impress is definitely not the thing at school. Gone are those corporate days when suit has to be set at the very least a night before.

Got a little time to take photos today before going to school. Took advantage of the sun and the cold wind outside our house. (click photos for higher reso)

everything old..nothing is new

Cowgirl Inspiration

Few days from now Albertina will have it´s annual Rodeo Fiesta. As seen from the stores in downtown Pinhal almost all of them are selling plaid shirts. You might want to skip that plaid part. Instead, create a statement look with Prairie pieces ( white ruffles, Broderie Anglaise, country florals).

Flare

Diesel Pants, Zara Shirt, U2 Jacket Dumond Wedge

Just like college days (hhhmmmm...a decade ago) I´m back to wearing flare jeans. For quite a time I´ve been looking for a jeans that could fit me well.  Finally found one. Bonus. It´s flare. So if feels like the carefree days at the school when all I care about was how to pass accounting subjects. Back then, I would use rubber shoes with flare jeans. The most comfy option  when you know you would just be running to different classroms. Cecilia does no running anymore so is the preference of wedge over rubber shoes. Not only that. She is no longer that grade conscious student but rather a grown up who wants to add glam to every look she wears.

my hair is getting so long and i´ve got no plan of trimming it soon...should I?

Fanta Natural

As much as I can, I avoid soda and prefer a natural fruit juice. This weekend I got fixated with carrot-orange-lemon juice which they call Fanta Natural. The recipe was learned from my husband´s aunties Vilma and Zenaide. The color was so enticing and really has the taste of Fanta Soda less of the gas and unnatural ingredients. A very healthy drink for all ages. Here´s the recipe:

3 large carrots peeled and chopped
1 large orange
250 ml lemon juice
1.5 litres of water
sugar to taste

Procedure
1. Mix carrots and 1 litre of water in a blender until carrots smoothen. Transfer to a jar.
2. Blend the lemon juice and orange (with skin) in 500 ml water until smooth.
3. Mix the carrot juice and lemon-orange mix in the jar.
4. Add sugar.

Note: You may opt to filter the juice to make it smoother to drink.

Cheers to healthy drinking!
